Coach Brad Dingess noted that the Timberwolves have evolved this season, now throwing the ball more frequently than in past years. They’ve completed 153 passes out of 373 plays. “They play ball control and seem to always hit a big pass play,” Dingess said, referring to Woodrow Wilson’s approach. “It’s kind of a role reversal.”
Meanwhile, Woodrow Wilson comes in with a 5-2 record and is typically associated with speedy skill players. However, they have embraced a similar ground game, relying on a powerful offensive line and multiple backs. Coach Chad Sarrett pointed out that his team had strong drives last week, including a 19-play drive against Princeton, despite suffering a narrow 14-7 loss. “We left some points on the field,” Sarrett admitted, pointing to a missed opportunity with an 87-yard touchdown pass that was called back.
As for individual performances, Spring Valley’s running back, Miguel Cain, leads the team with 771 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Quarterback Liam McGuire has thrown for 1,448 yards and 16 touchdowns while also contributing significantly on the ground with 428 yards. Receiver Jalyn Abercrombie has been a primary target, catching 31 passes for 567 yards and seven touchdowns.
