St. Mary Catholic and New London Take Championships in High School Sports

**Madison** saw an exciting conclusion to the WIAA tennis championships on Saturday. Vivie Auth and Adel Schneider from St. Mary Catholic captured the Division 2 state championship in doubles after finishing an impressive **31-0 season**. They secured the title by defeating Natalie Cooper and Lauren Loesl from Pacelli with a score of **6-0, 6-3** in the final match. Throughout the tournament, Auth, a freshman, and Schneider, a junior, showcased their talent, moving to the championship round by winning their semifinal against Maria Elizabeth Garcia and Akosua Yeboah of Columbus Catholic with a score of **6-2, 6-2**. After receiving a bye in the first round, they won all their matches in straight sets.

In the singles competition, Clare Schaefer of Whitefish Bay took home the Division 1 singles title, defeating McKenna Thorson from Verona with a score of **6-4, 6-2**. On the doubles side, the championship went to Sarah Neubert and Isabella Heidenberger of Arrowhead, who triumphed over Abby Frasher and Amelia Stuckslager from Divine Savior Holy Angels with a final score of **6-3, 2-6, 12-10**.

Switching to cross-country, **De Pere** hosted the championship events where New London clinched the boys title with **48 points**, narrowly beating West De Pere by six. The top boys’ finish went to Logan Boehnlein of Seymour, with an impressive time of **16:51.2**. For the girls, Shawano performed exceptionally, winning with **36 points**, while West De Pere secured second place with **65 points**. The girls’ individual title was won by Kate Schmoll of West De Pere, finishing with a time of **20:11.8**.

Exciting days in sports continue as many teams build towards playoffs, showcasing the dedication and talent in their communities.
