Mid-Season Rankings and Soccer Highlights from Utah High Schools

As of September 19, 2024, the excitement surrounding high school sports in Utah is reaching a fever pitch. The Preece Power Poll, compiled by expert Brian Preece, has ranked all 116 high school football programs in the state, showcasing their performance this season. Leading the way is Lehi, boasting an impressive record of 4 wins and 0 losses. They climbed up from third place to first, solidifying their dominance in 6A football.

Following Lehi closely is Lone Peak, which holds a record of 4-1 and has also jumped in rankings, moving up two spots from fourth to second. Corner Canyon sits in third place, also holding a 4-1 record, reflecting the strong competition among these top-tier teams.

In the realm of girls soccer, multiple matchups provided thrilling entertainment on September 17. In the 6A Region 3, American Fork crushed Westlake with a score of 6-1, while Lone Peak shut out Pleasant Grove 2-0. The game between Skyridge and Lehi concluded with Skyridge snatching a victory in overtime, winning 2-1.

Further down in the ranks, 5A Region 7 saw Springville defeat Spanish Fork 4-2, with Wasatch edging out Timpview 2-1. Salem Hills managed a close win against Cedar Valley, ending the match 2-1. In 4A Region 8, Timpanogos dominated Provo with a 3-0 victory.

Among other sports news, Mountain View High School celebrated the diversity of its student body during a home game against Spanish Fork, featuring students representing nearly 25 different countries with their respective flags.
