Vermont High School Fall Sports Kickoff with Exciting Matchups

As the 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season begins, teams across various sports are diving into competition with a mix of triumphs and challenges. Fans are eager to keep up with scores, schedules, and standout performances in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running.

This week brought in some impressive results. The University of Vermont (UVM) soccer team achieved a fantastic victory over Harvard with a 5-0 scoreline. Marcell Papp topped the charts, scoring 2 goals, while teammates Maxmilian Kissel, Sydney Wathuta, Nash Barlow, Connor Thompson, and David Ismail all contributed with crucial plays. This game marked UVM’s first back-to-back 5-0 shutouts in program history.

In the field hockey arena, Spaulding edged past U-32 with a close 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal from Eden White and a solid performance in goal from Izzy Lobb with 6 saves.

Missisquoi’s field hockey team battled hard against Harwood, ultimately winning 2-1 with a clutch overtime goal from Surelle Casperson, marking her return from an injury.

St. Johnsbury faced Milton and won decisively with a score of 5-1. Key players included Maggie Langlais and Aven Thomas, who both made notable contributions.

Champlain Valley showed domination over Burlington, finishing with a 7-0 victory. Cordelia Thomas and Carly Strobeck were standout players, each netting goals for their team.

In continuing action, Windsor crushed Springfield with an impressive 8-0 win, while Colchester defeated Mount Abraham with the same margin.
