Vermont Launches 2024 High School Fall Sports Season with Thrilling Matches and Standout Performances

**_Burlington_** kicked off the 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season with an exciting week of competition across various sports including soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. Teams were eager to showcase their skills and kickstart their seasons with strong performances.

In soccer, the Burlington boys’ team showed their strength with an impressive win over St. Johnsbury, finishing the game with a score of **_8-2_**. Star players included **_Quinn Sessions_** and **_Kade Ladner_**, both contributing with two goals and one assist each. Fields DeShaw also had a notable performance with one goal and two assists. Notably, one of Burlington’s goals was an own goal from St. Johnsbury, which added to their tally.

The Mount Abraham Eagles also had a strong showing in soccer, defeating Fair Haven with a score of **_2-0_**. **_Louisa Painter_** opened the scoring just 26 seconds into the match, followed quickly by another goal from **_Isla Underwood_**. The Eagles’ goalkeeper, **_Rosemary Behounek_**, made three crucial saves to keep Fair Haven at bay.

In field hockey, Windsor managed to secure a narrow victory against Fair Haven, winning **_1-0_**, thanks to a goal from **_Olivia Dube_** and an assist by **_Audrey McFarland_**. Meanwhile, in golf, **_Namo Seibert_** from Mount Mansfield emerged as the medalist with a score of **_36_** at the meet held in West Bolton. Seibert’s performance led his team to an overall strong showing as they competed against Essex and St. Johnsbury.

Looking ahead, there are several matchups scheduled for the coming week. Fans can expect exciting games as teams continue to compete fiercely for top spots in their respective standings. Notable games include Mount Abraham facing off against Essex and Burlington going head-to-head with South Burlington.
