High School Sports Recap from Vermont

This week, the fall high school sports season kicked off in Vermont with several exciting matchups across various sports. The action included soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running with teams competing fiercely.

Soccer Highlights

In soccer, South Burlington faced Burlington, resulting in a close 1-1 draw. Ella Knudsen scored for Burlington, while Lucia Ward found the net for South Burlington. Goalkeepers Noelle Sweetser and Gillian Bachand made significant stops with 6 and 7 saves, respectively.

Milton cruised to a 4-1 victory over Rice, with standout player Cianna Tomasi scoring a hat trick, all in the second half. Logan Freeman also contributed with a goal and two assists. On the other side, Reese Billings managed to score for Rice.

Peoples dominated Lyndon with a stunning 11-0 scoreline, showcasing a brilliant performance from Harrison Frazee, who netted five goals throughout the match.

Field Hockey Update

On the field hockey front, Windsor managed to edge out Leland and Gray, winning 2-1. Audrey Rupp played a crucial role in the victory for Windsor by scoring one of the two goals.

Volleyball Results

In volleyball, Essex defeated BFA-St. Albans in straight sets, winning 3-0. They secured their victory with scores of 25-20, 25-22, and 25-21. Colchester also had success, taking down Missisquoi 3-0.

As the season continues, fans can look forward to more thrilling games. Notable upcoming matches include Champlain Valley against Rice and Essex hosting South Burlington.
