Vermont High School Fall Sports Season Launches with Thrilling Matches

High School Sports Kick Off in Vermont

This week, the city of Vermont kicked off the 2024 high school fall sports season with an exciting array of games across multiple sports, including soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. As the week progressed, various teams showcased their talents against stiff competition.

In soccer, Montpelier triumphed over Missisquoi with a final score of 3-1, thanks to standout performances from Regan Walke, who scored twice, and Lia Walsh, who added another goal. Emily Tringe also contributed three assists to help secure the victory. Milton also had a solid performance, beating Lyndon 2-0 with goals from Saj Sanders and Olivia Hayden.

St. Johnsbury edged out North Country with a 2-0 win, led by Molly Kimber and Meredith Roy, both of whom found the net. Meanwhile, U-32 steamrolled Harwood with a dominant score of 6-1, showcasing Hannah Drury and Addie Gold as key players. In another match, BFA-Fairfax blanked Winooski, finishing 4-0, highlighted by Paige Cargill’s two goals.

In field hockey, the action was just as thrilling. Essex topped Burlington 5-2, with Grace Symula scoring three times. Meanwhile, South Burlington pulled off a dramatic win against BFA-St. Albans, clinching the match 2-1 in overtime.

For volleyball, Essex demonstrated their skill by overpowering Rice in a decisive match, winning 3-0 with Tess Adams leading the charge. Champlain Valley also secured a comfortable victory over BFA-St. Albans, winning 3-0 in straight sets.
