This week, Vermont high schools kicked off their fall sports season with some exciting games in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. Here’s a rundown of the scores and highlights from around the state.
In boys’ soccer, North Country defeated Peoples with a score of 3-1. Josi Fortin scored one goal for North Country, while his teammate Dakotah Bowen contributed two goals. Randi Fortin made three saves in goal.
Essex also had a strong showing, shutting out St. Johnsbury 2-0, thanks to goals from Ethan Leo and Emmet Voyer.
Rice dominated Colchester, winning 7-0. Lanah Quong had a stellar game, scoring three goals.
In volleyball, Essex triumphed over Rice with a convincing score of 3-0. Riley Austin led the team with six kills and five digs, while Reese Gregory added 13 assists and six aces.
Burlington also celebrated a clean sweep against Mt. Mansfield, earning a 3-0 victory.
The field hockey scene saw South Burlington crush Mt. Abraham 4-0, highlighted by two goals from Rosa DiGiulian, showcasing her skills on the field.
