Winter Sports Action Kicks Off in Arlington High Schools
Arlington, VA is gearing up for an exciting week of high school sports as the winter season takes center stage. With a variety of events scheduled, athletes from local schools will showcase their skills in basketball, swimming, wrestling, gymnastics, and ice hockey. The action kicks off on Friday, December 6.
The basketball games are set to be a highlight of the week. On Friday night, Dunbar takes on Bishop O’Connell at 7:30 p.m., while Olympic faces Wakefield at the same time. Earlier in the evening, the girls’ teams compete with Olympic playing against Wakefield at 5:45 p.m. and Dunbar also at Bishop O’Connell.
Swim and dive meets are also making waves this week, with Bishop O’Connell participating in a meet at Gallaudet University on Friday at 3 p.m. and Wakefield going head-to-head with Marshall at the Audrey Moore RECenter at 6 p.m. Additional swim competitions are set for the weekend with teams like Langley and Herndon also fighting for victory.
Wrestling fans can look forward to the Fairfax Invitational on Friday at 2 p.m. where teams from Wakefield, Washington-Liberty, and Yorktown will showcase their fighting spirit.
Ice hockey games are heating up as well. The boys’ ice hockey schedule features Stone Bridge facing Yorktown at 6 p.m. on Friday, followed by a matchup between Washington-Liberty and Bishop O’Connell at 8 p.m.
